Welcome to The Minister's Resource Website
Resources for the Active Minister PDF Print E-mail

Let's face it - the life of a minister is very busy - and often - we never seem to have the time to devote to preparing for weekly services that we should have.  The Internet has become a great resource for planning our services, researching scripture, and finding material and inspiration for our sermons.  Unfortunately, there is so much information available that it is difficult to find everything in one easy place.

That is the goal behind "The Minister's Resource".  We try to bring everything together in one spot.  While this site can't replace prayer and meditation - it certainly can help to reduce the amount of time you spend looking for material.

So thanks for visiting - look around and enjoy!

Daily Reflections from The Upper Room:

  • — 10 Ways to Stay Positive

Today’s Reflection 1. Start the day with prayer and praise. Before you get up each day, take a moment to praise God and ask for God’s help in seeing the good in the day ahead. 2. Smile! You don’t necessarily need to pretend to be cheerful when you’re not, but sometimes just smiling can help [...]

  • — Life As Pilgrim People

Today’s Reflection MOTHER TERESA said that the secret to life is prayer. We, as pilgrims, see prayer as the heart of our journey. The business of every Christian is prayer, says Brother Lawrence, an eleventh-century lay brother who “practiced the presence of God” as he resoled shoes and prepared meals in the monastery kitchen. Prayer [...]

  • — When Our Spirits Feel Frozen

Today’s Reflection JESUS, you had no place to call home when you lived on earth. Come, Lord, and grant us the privilege of claiming our heart-nests as your home. Show us ways to deal with winter times when our spirits feel frozen. Guide us to build a home that awaits a birthing, an aliveness of [...]

  • — No Wasted Love

Today’s Reflection CAREGIVERS NEED TO KNOW that no act of love is ever a waste of time for them or the one they are caring for. They need reassurance that caring is important spiritual work. … Where do we find Jesus today? We discover the answer in his words, “Truly I tell you, just as [...]

  • — Pray for Me

Today’s Reflection THE WORDS “PRAY FOR ME” signal a person in need. And when someone is in need — because of illness, a broken relationship, loss of work, a spiritual crisis, or grief, it is as if he or she is carrying a heavy bucket — a bucket filled with emotion, filled with grief, filled [...]

  • — Friend With Benefits

God the Trinity is a friend and has friends, and he made us in his image and likeness for friendship with him and one another. Marriage is about friendship. Your spouse is to be your “lover and friend” (Song 5:16); in other words, your friend with benefits. Marital friendship is to be: Fruitful, Reciprocal, Intimate, Enjoyable, Needed, Devoted, Sanctifying. How’s your friendship with Jesus? With your spouse?

  • — New Marriage, Same Spouse

Pastor Mark kicks off Real Marriage by sharing his and Grace’s marriage testimony, in which God has given them a new marriage with the same spouse. You can defeat Satan in your life and marriage by the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 12:11). Jesus died for sin so you can put your sin to death. Because of the blood of the Lamb, there’s a testimony. In a testimony, Jesus is the hero. What’s your testimony?

  • — All Things to All People

Pastor Mark visits 9 of 14 Mars Hill churches, seeing God’s work and asking what mission looks like for each. Being on mission means having the Father’s heart, then going to work with him. Just like the Apostle Paul, we become all things to all people, doing whatever we can to reach as many as possible. What does it mean to be a missionary—not just a Christian—in the city where God has placed you?

  • — Receive Power

Sinners assume they can’t change, religious people assume they can change themselves, and spiritual people want to change but open themselves to any force or power to do so. You do need to change and you do need another power to change you, but it must be the power of the Holy Spirit—which is what empowered Jesus’ life. Repent, receive the Holy Spirit, become a new person, and live a new life.

  • — Where Are You?

One of the core values of Mars Hill Church is complementarian relationships. Pastor Mark explores what this means practically by answering three important questions with Scripture, starting in the beginning: what is God’s intent for men and women (Genesis 1–3), what is God’s intent for men and women in the church (1 Timothy 2–3), and what is God’s intent for men and women in the home.
